HISTORY

The "Domaine de la Camarette" is the creation of Christiane and Pierre Gontier, in 1993, using the knowledge of 100 years of wine nursery experience. They decided to brand off and build their own winery. Now, their daughter Nancy has joined the family business.
The "Domaine de la Camarette" was bought in the 60's because of the uniqueness of the soil; it had never been used for this kind of vine cultivation. For more than 30 years before 1993, these fîelds were only used for the implantation of plants of clonal selection for the production of the vines used in the nursery.
The Domaine is located in the south of the Rhône Valley and profits by the Guaranteed
Original Vintage Cotes-du-Ventoux; In French, we say A.O.C. Cotes-du-Ventoux.
The soil is a combination of clay and limestone from the 4 th Era of mountains terrain.
The property is located at the bottom of the Mont-Ventoux (6230 feet high).
Having a Mediterranean climate, consisting of a lot of sun but the seasons are noticeable defïned. It is very favorable for a natural culture of the vines.
There are three areas constituent the Domaine de la Camarette:
~ La Camarette: 50 hectares (the main area)
- Blauvac: 5 hectares (bought in 1992, if s a very good and spécial
location)
~ Saint-Hippolyte: 7 hectares (bought in 1988, it's the place where we have our oldest vines: more than 50 years old).

METHODS OF CULTIVATIQN AND ELABORATION OF THE WINES

The wines are made naturally. We never add any sugar or chemical product to accelerate the wine making process. But we do use the most up to date techniques to ensure product, quality and consistency of the wines. For example: the conservation technique of reducing the wine temperature by a rapid cooling System, or a very light fîltration on natural clay called Kieselguhr.
The harvest and process of each kind of grape are done separately and assembled according to the demand and the taste of each variety of wine. The juice of white grapes only makes the white wines.
The rosé is bloody made, which gives it a fresh taste and allows customers to drink it even young.
To accommodate keeping a red wine longer, Syrah will be added. On the other hand, Cinsault and Grenache Noire will be added in a red wine to drink within a year.
